Medical cannabis ๐ rescheduling is here, but what does it mean for patients? Join our chapter meeting to learn more this Tuesday.
Importantly, the new federal rule does not legalize ๐ across the board. Adult-use cannabis remains outside the new protection, and unlicensed ๐ remains federally illegal.
But for medical patients, this could be a major shift: state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries may now have a pathway to DEA registration, allowing qualifying patients to obtain medical mari*uana through a federally authorized channel.
That could create an opportunity for federally-legal possession and consumption, affecting how patient use affects personal rights in areas like housing, employment, criminal law, federal land, licensing, and other collateral consequences.
But the details matter. This is not automatic immunity, and not every dispensary is federally registered.
Arizona NORML will break down what changed, what did not, and what patients should watch next.
